Thank you once again to all the players that showed up - you are the reason we have
organized scrabble tournaments.
Travel:
Three from Vancouver and one from Edmonton - incurring considerable costs to come play.
Organizers:
A big thanks to Emil Rem for agreeing to show up on game day and step in at the last minute to even up pairings.
To Rod Weis for assisting on Saturday, including running the software and stepping in as director.
To Randall Thomas for picking me and the machines up early on both days
To everyone who helped with setup and teardown of the tables
Meals:
Sue went out of her way to shop, then cook, two delicious meals for the whole group.
The chicken stew on Saturday and Sheppherd's Pie on Sunday were amazing. It meant we could spend more
time chatting and less time running around to get lunch. We are indebted.
Also a big thank you to everyone who brought some snacks for sharing. It made the tournament so much better.
Results A:
Randall (8) faced Juraj (9) in a do-or-die game. Had Randall won, Matt, Juraj and Randall would have shared top honours with 9 wins each,
and Randall would have prevailed on spread to win first place. However, it was not to be and we finished separated by one win with 10-9-8.
Results B:
Richard lost to Sue three times. And she made ELEVEN bingos in three games, while Richard made ... zero. So it was nerve racking to face
Sue in the last game I'm sure, but he prevailed and thus jumped ahead by half a win to take the tournament. Very tense, exciting
finishes in both divisions!
Thank you all for a great tournament, and know it has been submitted to WGPO for rating already, and should be processed soon.
Until next time!
