NewsSeaCal ResultsPosted by Paul S on Wed May 02, 2001 at 0h00After not panning out last year, the tournament known as SeaCal was
back. However, we're going to have to change the nickname because this
time instead of playing each other, Seattle and Calgary teamed up
against Portland in a team tournament. The tournament location was
unchanged from two years ago: The scenic Coeur d'Alene Resort in Coeur
d'Alene, ID.
Players play opponents only from the other team and the team with
the most wins takes the title. (Exception: Our side had two extra
players so there was one intrateam match per round which did not count
towards the team standings.)
Portland took the championship by a large margin: 174.5 wins to
125.5. I wasn't able to attend this tournament so I don't have any
more details, but the full individual
results are online. Thanks to Steven Alexander, maintainer
of the
Scrabble
FAQ and a player in the event, for the results.
