Michel Demers Passed Away

Posted by Juraj P on Mon October 31, 2005 at 8h58

Hi Kyera, I am very sorry to hear about Michel's untimely passing away. I am forwarding your message to all the members of the Scrabble® Club who knew Michel over many years, and I am sure my sentiments will be shared by all of them. Michel loved the game so much that he visited the club even when he knew he could not play at his best, because he enjoyed just being there. All of us will sorely miss him.

I plan to attend the service on Wednesday, and I am sure others in the club also will, if their schedules permit. Meanwhile, please take care of yourself and the family, as Michel would have wanted you to.

With sincere sympathies,

Siri

A few weeks ago, Michel was very sick and the scrabble club collected money to send him home. We were intending to come back in the following Thursday to say thanks, but he ended up in the hospital with a blood clot.

With the clot, he required more care than I could provide at home (even with the help of a day caregiver). We were fortunate to get into the Rosedale Hospice. On Thursday, he was agitated and his kidneys started to fail. On Friday, he slipped into a coma and he passed away very peacefully on Saturday.

I just wanted to say thank-you for all your kindness towards Michel, he loved his scrabble. His obituary is located at McInnis and Holloway.

If anyone would like to attend his memorial service will be held at the Full Gospel Tabernacle, 155 Falconridge Crescent NE (also in the obituary) on Wednesday, November 2 at 3 p.m. or we will be getting together to celebrate his life at his son Phil’s house at 6118 Saddlehorn Driver NE after 5 p.m.
