Can-Am Day Two

Posted by Randall on Sun March 20, 2011 at 18h41
The snowstorm missed us, but I still had to
brush and scrape an inch before moseying up to
the venue. The players arrived in spurts to find
the boards set and the tiles (Thank you Sam K.)
all squared. Seems everyone slept okay on the
Indian Dinner we shared last night. Nice way to
decompress after a hard-fought 8 rounds.
But the melee continued unabated:

something appreciative like "Nice work, pardner. What's your score now, 782?"), HAVERING

Round 14: Dave had already defeated Adam at lunchtime in order
to facilitate his exit to Portland.
Adam & Dave - FLANERIE, EDUCTION, EIRENIC, LEAFAGES, SPHENOID
So when Round 14 came, Canada was behind 49-43...

Quite an inspiring experience, to watch all the games develop into
elegant word-web sculptures. I recall only two staircases, and those
eventually broke open.
For those who were staying over one more night, where would they
go for dinner? Obviously, Thai food.

Thanks to all the players for their sportsmanship and assistance in
documenting the games. Also to the annotators: Betty Bergeron,
Wayne Clifford and Allan Simon. Thanks also to Juraj for the computer
work and the round-by-round announcements. And finally a big thanks
the Siri Tillekeratne for his efforts in getting this event brought to Calgary.
And once the gears were in motion, Betty did yeoman's work in coordinating
with the players and crew to pull this off. Enjoy the Galapagos, Betty.
