Coeur d'Alene Report: the mini Can-Am

A mini Can-Am took place at Coeur d'Alene, Idaho this past weekend. The tournament pits Canadians against Americans over 14 rounds, spread over two divisions. The setting was the beautiful hotel of Coeur d'Alene Resort.

The glory was definitely shared: Canada won the match 84-70, yet the US took 1st place in Div1 and 1st place in Div2.

Mike Baker won in Div 1 with 10-4, +435 and Zana Anderson won Div 2 with an impressive 11-3, +1024. Siri finished 2nd with a negative spread! followed by Juraj in 3rd. And in Div 2, again two Canadians in 2nd and 3rd: Ben Settle and Noella Ward.

The tournament is a bit of a logistics nightmare to organize as it is very important to have a perfect balance between Team CAN and Team USA. The US brought 12 players and Canada only 10, so Gunther Jacobi graciously agreed to play for Canada. Not sure he helped much when we sang the national anthem, but his scrabble game was very decent.
