Awards for Saturdays

After much debate and discussion we are pleased to present a new improved scoring system for Saturdays, as pertains to an annual awards night. It is guided by the principle that "Everyone should have a chance to win a prize." Based on points earned during the calendar year, eight players will receive a 10 admission pass, valued at $27.00. Passes may be used for admission to Thursday or Saturday scrabble sessions.
To give everyone a chance, we can't all compete with the 1900 rated players. We need to compete against our (rating) peers. To that end, points will be awarded, each Saturday, as follows
- 1st Place, rating <= 900, 5 pts
- 2nd Place, rating <= 900, 3 pts
- 1st Place, rating <= 1200, 5 pts
- 2nd Place, rating <= 1200, 3 pts
- 1st Place, overall 5 pts
- 2nd Place, overall 3 pts
Furthermore, to equalize distribution of passes, two passes will be awarded to players U900, two passes to U1200, and two in the OPEN section. The remaining two will go to players with the next highest point totals, regardless of rating.
Please note: pairings will remain exactly the same as they always have. If you don't pay attention to awards, you'll notice nothing has changed.
