Sargious proves any player can win

There were many doubters, his friends said it couldn't be done, but somehow it came to pass. With a fine start to the tournament, 8-0 on Saturday, Peter sailed to his first ever tournament victory with an excellent 11-3 finish, two full games ahead of the pack. He picked up $120 prize money and even more rating points, +125. We should have given him five more bucks. Juraj and Wayne finished 2nd and 3rd with 9-5 each, and spread deciding.

Bill Payne was untouchable in the second division, winning with 2.5 games above next best. Maureen had a very decent tournament, 2nd, but alas was credited with only a single rating point :-(. Wendy had a very rough start on Saturday with only 3-5 but came back to take third place with 8-6 after a solid Sunday.

Daisy Bailey won Division C handily, with the best overall record across all divisions, and best spread too, of 12-2 and +776. Well done!! It was nice to see so many newcomers, Geri gets the credit for this. Not only that but they all played so well, with Sandra even finishing in the money. We hope to see you back in Calgary in June.
