Graphic Design

The current design represents a significant face lift from the previous site. Christine McLeod implemented her new, clean design in Sept 2005. It streamlined the site navigation and greatly improved the visual impact of the site. It achieved a better separation of presentation from content through CSS (stylesheets).

System Architecture and Implementation

Juraj Pivovarov has rewritten the website, improving the information architecture. The new site makes more extensive use of MySQL (storing tournaments and stats) and uses php exclusively, replacing a few python sections. In addition, there is a data layer of psuedo stored procedures (sql scripts since we are using a dated version of mysql), which provides highly desirable database encapsulation. (2005-2006)

History

The original website and design was done by Paul Sidorsky, who maintained it from 1997 to 2005. It was done with MySQL, html, and python.

Luckily, most of the good work Paul did with the site was re-usable. The articles and stats database were carried over from the previous site. Also, many of the well written textual information pages, for new members and otherwise, were retained, as was the scoresheet section.

Finally, we thank the volunteers who keep our club stats up to date: Jason Krueger, Betty Bergeron, and Peter Maas.
